Christmas 2001 Pictures and Trip to Washington DC (password protected)
My recent exploration into the world of cheap yet configurable and useful (read "plays almost anything") DVD players began with the purchase of an Apex (1100 or something). It turns out I had the model made after February 2002, meaning that it still played VCD, but it played mpeg very poorly (sound droped out alot.) Additionally, the Apex was of exceptionally poor quality with no digital display and a very jerky loading tray (hold your hands out when this thing ejects because your DVD could jump right out of the tray!) Many good region free and macrovision free modifications exist for this player. However I couldn't live with the quality, so on to the next victim. Next I tried the GE DGE100NA. VCD and MPEG playback was good, plus you can fast forward and fast reverse in MPEGs (which seems to be exceptional from my experience) so I decided to keep it. Detailed photos of this player can be seen here (inside and out.) Also of note, both of these DVD players can be found at Walmart (not that I endorse them; I was just supprised Walmart caried them.) Now I'm faced with the task of finding region free and macrovision free modifications for my GE DGE100NA DVD player. The first place I looked was (some site I can't remmeber). This site is absolutely a wealth of information on DVD players and modifications. Having said that, they have almost no information on my DVD player . . . :( If anyone does have information on region free or macrovision free modificaions to this DVD player, please feel free to email at hesher@SPAMINATORcs.fsu.edu (yes leave out the SPAMINATOR part.)
Projects that I've forced my car to suffer through.
